SPARTAN BASKETBALL
We will be making every attempt to schedule our games around the Spartan program to avoid conflicts and allowing players to play both. As schedules are just coming out we have some flexibility and we think the Spartan program is wonderful. In the past this has worked very well. There should be a 3 week span of overlap between the programs. Hopefully you can play in both programs.
Games - will be played at SJSH, Alliance, WFSS, CSS and Elmwood
Intermediate School Basketball
We will be working around schedules to allow players to play both. This program and ours only intermix a couple dates and we will work to avoid any conflicts.

This can only be done at that players proper evaluation camp. As of January 1, 2025. Please NOTE - Pro Sports reserves the right to change division ages if numbers do not warrant a division. LEAGUE INFORMATION - Our league is fun competitive. We use carded referees and play on full size basketball courts. Our most cherished rule is our participation rule. No player can play more than four minutes more than any other player. Our timers ensure that all players get an equal chance and any team violating the participation rule are defaulted. We want everyone to have a chance to play when the game is on the line. Players are placed on teams by the league officials. Players can request ONE friend to join them on their team but both friends MUST select each other. All of our teams compete for the league championship offered in their age category. Championship teams win medals as do the finalists.
GAME NIGHTS (This is based on 2024 and may change depending on permits.
Co-ed Ages 7-9 - Mondays / Wednesday's at Alliance (teams will play 1-3 games on Tuesdays instead of Mondays)
Boys 10-11 - Games will take place Monday-Thursday at West Ferris Secondary until June. If possible we will then run Tuesday and Thursdays for this age group. (note-this age group game nights are a little up in air as we wait for gym approvals and other basketball seasons to end. (may have 1-2 Sunday games)
Boys 12-13 - Games will take place Tuesdays / Thursdays at SJSH. (may have 1-2 Sunday games)
Girls 10-13 - Games take place Monday / Wednesdays at SJSH (may have 1-2 Sunday games)
Boys 14-18 - Games will take place Sundays / Mixed nights some Wednesdays during the week in May. We hope this switches to Tuesdays / Thursdays in June but we are still unsure until permits are approved.
Girls 14-18 - Games will take place Sundays / Mixed nights during the week in May. We hope this switches to Monday / Wednesday in June but we are still unsure until permits are approved.
****some divisions may change depending on numbers, we always make the best decisions for all our players.
EVALUATION CAMPS - We use evaluation camps to determine the skill level of players for the creation of the teams. Evaluation camps are mandatory, if you are going to miss you need to contact the league office by email. We try to make even teams and therefore need to see our players. No player may attend a camp for a higher age without attending a camp for their own age. We evaluate each player secretly at this camp. We then strive to create a league of balanced teams. 2024 EVALUATION CAMPS - Attend Your Group ONLY PLAYERS MUST ATTEND THE CAMP OF THEIR AGE EVEN IF THEY WANT TO PLAY UP. ALL DECISIONS WILL BE MADE AT THE EVALUATION CAMP AND PLAYERS CAN ASK TO CHANGE DIVISIONS ONLY IF SPACE EXISTS. Some players will be moved to different divisions but this MUST be done by our league office and not by players or parents. Players may voice their request at the evaluation camp of their age.
TEAM BALANCE - Players who do attend attend evaluation cannot be guaranteed to have their friend request honoured, and may be traded in the first three weeks for league balance.
PLAYER TRADES - The league reserves the right to trade players based on league balance within the first 2-3 weeks of the season.
PLAYER REQUESTS CAN NOT ALWAYS BE GUARANTEED

2025 Season Update Important Information for All Parents and Players - NBA Core Rules on Registration
We promise to do our best to make balanced teams in all our leagues. We promise to treat all players equally when making playing decisions. We promise to never say no to one person and yes to another with regard to the core NBA rules. These are things we truly believe in and we have found work the best over our 28 year history. The NBA is meant to be competitive but with true fun in mind. We want players to play and meet new friends. To have new basketball experiences and to love this great game. Thank you and we will be announcing our camps as soon as possible.
HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE The Nipissing Basketball Association began in 1992 when teachers Tim Simpson, Chantal Rota, Bryan Sargent and others started a program to boost the skill level of basketball players in North Bay and surrounding areas. The program has thrived for decades and continues to run boasting the same fair play principles it was founded upon back in the very first year. The house-league basketball has offered the game to over 7000 athletes and played over 3700 games. The NBA is pleased to have Pro Sports Management provide the league website and PayPal options as well as administer and run the program. The NBA runs from May to late June at area schools. In 2022, Chippewa, St Joseph-Scollard Hall, Alliance Public, Chippewa and West Ferris Secondary will host games beginning in May running through to third week of June. Teams will play twice per week and complete a 10 game schedule including playoffs. The NBA caters to players aged 7-18 as of January 1, 2025. Players receive a uniform and are placed on teams made by the league committee. We do everything possible to insure balanced teams and to offer a fun experience to all players. Coaches are not allowed to recruit players, pick players, or find new players for their teams. The cost per player is $150.00 Families of two players will pay $280.00 and families with three players will pay $415.00 Each additional player is $135.00. NOTE: You must designate in your E transfer which athletes your family payment is supporting.
We do the work! You have the fun!
